Cookie Notice and Privacy Choices
This notice explains how the EcosAtlas public website uses cookies, local storage, tags, pixels, and similar browser technologies and how you can control optional use.
1. What these technologies do
Cookies are small files placed in a browser. Local storage stores information on a device without using a traditional cookie. Tags and pixels can send information when a page or interaction occurs. EcosAtlas uses these technologies for the purposes described here. Website analytics starts enabled for new visitors when configured; optional campaign storage starts disabled. Saved choices and recognized Global Privacy Control signals take precedence over those defaults.
2. Necessary storage
The public site stores ecosatlas_cookie_preferences_v2 in local storage with your category choices, preference version, Global Privacy Control status, and update time. It remains until you clear browser storage or a new preference version requires another choice. When you submit a protected form, the site loads reCAPTCHA from recaptcha.net for security, fraud, and abuse prevention. Google may set _GRECAPTCHA and process technical and interaction signals for that purpose. The duration and availability of provider storage depend on the provider and browser. Form security is separate from optional analytics and campaign storage. Linked account services may use their own necessary authentication storage.
3. Analytics
When configured, Google Analytics 4 starts enabled for new visitors. It measures pages visited, engagement time while a page is in focus, scroll depth, navigation, and selected public-site interactions. Turn Analytics off in Cookie settings to stop collection. Earlier saved rejections and a recognized Global Privacy Control signal keep analytics off. Unreadable preference storage also keeps it off unless you make a choice for the current visit. It may set _ga and _ga_<container-id> cookies to distinguish visitors and sessions. Google documents a default two-year cookie lifetime, subject to configured expiration and browser limits; cookie lifetime is separate from server-side event-data retention. Contact hello@ecosatlas.com about the retention applicable to collected analytics information.
4. Marketing and campaign measurement
With marketing consent, the site stores selected campaign labels and the landing-page path in session storage under ecosatlas_campaign_attribution_v1. This first-party storage works independently of Google Analytics and is cleared when you reject marketing storage or the browser session ends. Campaign labels may accompany ordinary commercial inquiries with marketing consent. When analytics is also enabled, selected labels may accompany analytics events. Privacy requests do not include campaign attribution. The site does not activate advertising pixels, remarketing audiences, or advertising personalization. A new advertising use would require an updated notice and appropriate choice before activation.
5. Google Consent Mode
The Google tag is initialized with storage denied while browser preferences are read. For a new visitor with readable preference storage and no recognized Global Privacy Control signal, website analytics is then enabled without waiting for a banner click. Saved rejections keep it disabled. Advertising storage, advertising user-data use, and ad personalization remain denied. Marketing consent controls the first-party campaign storage described here and does not enable advertising. Changing your choices updates the applicable controls. Rejecting analytics disables collection for the configured measurement ID and clears accessible EcosAtlas-scoped analytics cookies on a best-effort basis.
6. Events and data minimization
The site’s custom analytics events use allowlisted, length-limited labels for page category, navigation, form type, and interaction. They exclude form responses, uploaded documents, private workspace content, and account credentials. Reported page locations and referrers omit query strings and fragments, and email-like or telephone-like labels are redacted. Selected campaign parameters are a separate, consent-dependent input; do not include personal or confidential information in campaign URLs. Provider settings and any future integrations must preserve these limits.
7. Your choices
The initial notice offers Accept optional and Settings. Accept optional enables analytics and campaign storage unless Global Privacy Control is active. Settings lets you change either category or choose Reject optional to turn both off. Use Cookie settings on this notice to reopen those controls; the Cookie notice link in the footer returns you here. Rejecting optional storage stops analytics, leaves necessary form security available, and clears saved campaign attribution. Blocking reCAPTCHA may prevent a protected form from submitting; hello@ecosatlas.com and the relevant contact emails remain alternatives. Clearing browser storage removes your saved choices, restores the new-visitor defaults, and brings the notice back. Cookie choices do not change an email subscription or submit a record-related privacy request.
8. Global Privacy Control and browser signals
A recognized Global Privacy Control signal keeps website analytics and marketing storage off for that browser, including after Accept optional. Both controls remain disabled while that signal is active, and advertising remains disabled. The public website does not infer your identity in a sourced business record from this browser signal. To request an opt-out affecting named business-record information, use Privacy requests or hello@ecosatlas.com; provide only the information needed to locate the record. The older Do Not Track signal is not used as a preference because its meaning is not standardized.
9. Providers and cross-border processing
Google processes reCAPTCHA Customer Data for security, fraud, and abuse prevention under the applicable Google Cloud terms and data-processing addendum, with EcosAtlas responsible for its use of that service. Optional Google Analytics is a separate service with its own applicable processing terms and configuration. Providers may process technical information in the United States and other countries. Using recaptcha.net does not itself promise a particular processing location. Material changes to browser technologies or purposes require the notice, inventory, and applicable choices to be updated.
10. Updates and questions
